Unrooted Launches in Colorado, Partners with Noble Riot to Celebrate the Local Natural Wine Scene

DENVER – February 25, 2024 – Unrooted, a celebrated natural wine club founded in San Francisco in 2018, has officially expanded operations to Denver. As part of the Colorado launch, Unrooted has partnered with Noble Riot, Denver’s leading natural wine bar, to bring unique natural wine experiences to local enthusiasts through monthly pop-up events and a collaborative wine club.

Why Colorado?

For Unrooted co-founder and sommelier Joel Kampfe (WSET, CS, CSW), the move to Denver was an easy choice. 

“Denver is quickly becoming a hub for natural wine, even with its deep-rooted beer culture,” Kampfe explains. “People here care about quality, craftsmanship, and the stories behind what they drink—values that align perfectly with the independent winemakers we work with. There’s a real opportunity to build something fresh and exciting in this growing scene.”

Natural wine, often described as the craft beer of the wine world, is made with minimal intervention, allowing the true character of the vineyard to shine. With higher acidity, lower alcohol content, and fewer sulfites, these wines offer vibrant, complex flavors while prioritizing sustainability. Wine Enthusiast even credits Denver’s love of craft beer—especially sour beer—with fueling the city’s growing interest in natural wine.

Beyond introducing global selections, Unrooted is also championing Colorado’s emerging natural wine scene.

“We’re seeing a rise in local natural wine producers in areas like Palisade, and there’s real excitement around unconventional styles,” says Kampfe. “Colorado’s intense sun and harsh winters create a unique terroir, producing some truly compelling wines.”

The Noble Riot partnership & monthly pop-ups

As part of the partnership, Unrooted will host free monthly tastings at Noble Riot in RiNo, right next to The Denver Central Market. Led by Kampfe, now a full-time Denver local, each event will highlight new and noteworthy natural wines from around the world in a laid-back, unintimidating setting—complete with a DJ. These pop-up events offer a chance for both seasoned enthusiasts and curious newcomers to explore, learn, and enjoy.

“This is an exciting development for Denver’s natural wine scene,” says Troy Bowen, sommelier and owner of Noble Riot. “We’re creating more opportunities for education and discovery while providing exclusive previews of the wine club.”

Bringing the experience home

Alongside the tastings, Unrooted and Noble Riot have launched a collaborative monthly wine club, giving members access to expertly curated natural wines delivered straight to their door. Each shipment includes a custom welcome letter and hand-crafted tags that share the story behind every bottle, reinforcing Unrooted’s commitment to highlighting independent producers and sustainable practices.

“Unrooted is all about connecting people with small-batch, natural wines that are as interesting as they are delicious,” Kampfe adds. “From unique varietals to lesser-known regions, we’re making natural wine more accessible and fun for everyone.”

Upcoming pouring

The next Unrooted x Noble Riot tasting event will take place on Friday, February 28, from 7-9 pm, featuring A Night of Sexy Italian Wines.

Attendees will receive a free tasting of Italy’s hidden gems—lesser-known native grapes, unexpected twists on classic varietals, and sultry, small-batch selections.
